06/11/2008 - The BNSF Railway has made changes to their Intermodal Rules & Policy Guide, effective July 1, 2008. Please note the price for all container lifts at all BNSF ramps will increase from $50 to $100 per occurrence. Charges for rail-billing changes will increase to $100, and penalties assessed for weight violations have changed. 06/06/2008 - Regarding the BC Carbon Tax, the effect on Intermodal container movements to, from or through British Columbia: All Intermodal containers to and from Vancouver or through British Columbia on CPR will be assessed $6.00 (for 40',45' 48', or 53' equipment) or $3.00 (for 20' equipment). Effective July 1, 2008. This will also affect CN traffic.
03/31/2008 - To all customers who ship from the U.S. or Mexico to Canada. Bill of lading data quality – a key factor in expediting customs clearance of your shipment in Canada. To ensure a smoother customs clearance process and assist customs brokers to identify the importing party promptly and accurately, the shipper should always cite both the importer of record and the customs broker on the EDI bill of lading.
